Mauj release Now In Technicolor and 'Mona' Mauj's album, Now In Technicolor has finally seen light of shelf! While the album had been released digitally for a while, Mauj, who had signed up with Fire Records, towards the end of December '09, had seemingly resigned to fate regarding the release of Now In Technicolor.
"No word on the release of Now In Technicolor or the video of 'Mona' I've stopped holding my breath," Omran Shafique had said.
As of January 29, 2010, though, both album and video have been released, and may we say, 'Mona' the video is as quirky as one might expect from Mauj collectively, or Omran individually.
'Mona' has been directed by Sohail Javed and stars all the usual suspects of a music video so crazy. Anisa Sheikh, Sanam Saeed and Merium Azmi are all part of the 'Mona' cast, as are the band members. The storyline is something we expect will sink in after a dozen viewings, but really seems to be leaning towards the spoofy end of horror, with a demure desi brides of Dracula type of sequence.
The band's philosophy behind the song / video is equally cryptic: "'Mona' is a song about a bad habit that people accumulate over the course of a life time."
While the album had been released online a while back, Mauj asks their fans to buy the album to support the band. You can buy the album from your local music store or the band's website: http://www.maujmusic.com
