The link above is directly from Minhaj-ul-Quran website, you can watch the press conference and also read the fatwa directly. I have to say this is a very positive step. Obviously everyone has different opinions, but I believe actions like this are fundamental to defeating this ideology of hate. This should be broadcast by every media outlet in pakistan, they should have him give talks and interviews to try and reach any youngster still considering wasting their life in this regard. On the contrary, the Pakistani media are quiet about this story, and unsurprisingly, it's all over the western papers. I just don't get it. Why don't we give stories like this the attention an coverage they deserve? I feel like this should be headline news in Pakistan, but you have to search the back pages to find it. What do I know about defeating terrorism, I'm just a medical student, and clearly our media and our government have their own ideas about the right way forward.
