the dailytimes on a weekly basis plasters these pictures of parties or as they call them GTs all over their paper with nicknames like natty, meenu, QYT etc. they did this with friday times too. they deliberately try to glamourize the party scene as the oh so special lives of the rich and the famous and act like its this elite exclusive club where everybody who matters knows each other so well they dont even need last names- just "malhy" would do.

why express any disapproval of the culture when you habitually embrace it and act as if its something others should aspire to? if everybody who is somebody is at the party and everybody is so cool why not just keep it to yourselves? why are these pictures needed as certification of the fact that you hobnob in this supposedly "glamorous" world? why the desperation to put it on display?

and the writer here tries to make gross generalizations that dont count for naught. the situation he mentions is not "our acceptably fashionable way of life"- it is only applicable to a tiny part of pakistan's population.

he makes the pathetic typical move (typical of the confused daily times mindset, that is) of declaring such things the manifestations of a "free society", these pictures are in his words a "revolution" which will defeat the forces of "anti-liberation"! oh yeah. thats the revolution the country has been so desperately waiting for. lets look to the sky cause manna from the heaven will start dropping soon.
