Phir Se Aa Raha Hai Jeenay Ka Mazaa
After the unprecedented acclaim and popularity of Season 1, Coke Studio announced its return to the heart of the live recording studio with a new artist line up, a different sound, an innovative house band, a reinvented set and a brand new set of performances and episodes to be broadcast across Pakistan this summer.
This season, Coke Studio draws together the fundamentals of collaborative music that will showcase Pakistan’s rich music culture, by stitching into its fabric traditional artists, folk music influences and regional instruments in collaboration with Pakistan’s contemporary mainstream artists. With visionary Rohail Hyatt back at the helm, featuring this season are sensational stars Ali Zafar, Arieb Azhar, Atif Aslam, Javed Bashir, Riaz Ali Khan, Saieen Zahoor, Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan, Strings, Josh, Zeb & Haniya, all of whom were present at the press conference.
The press conference also featured the return of Coke Studio’s power-house band with the likes of Babar Khanna on dholak, Kamran “Mannu” Zafar on Bass, Louis “Gumby” Pinto on Drums, Omran “Momo” Shafique on guitar, Saba Shabbir on backing vocals and Zulfiq “Shazee” Ahmed Khan on multi percussions. Joining the house band this season are Assad Ahmed, also on guitar, Jaffer Zaidi on the keyboard, Javed Iqbal on Violin, Natasha De Sousa as backing vocalist, Sikander on dholak and Waris Baloo on multi percussions. This year also welcomes guest musicians Bakir on flute, Gul Mohammad on Sarangi, Gurpreet Chana on tabla, Rakae Jamil on Sitar and Sadiq Sameer on Rabab.
Opening the press conference was country manager the Coca-Cola Export Corporation, Rizwan U Khan who said “bringing alive the magic of live recordings and performances, Coke Studio prides itself on providing a musical platform which bridges barriers, celebrates diversity, encourages unity and instils a sense of Pakistani pride.”
Producer Coke Studio, Rohail Hyatt also commented “We are sitting on a gold mine of art and talent that has been historically built by our predecessors. To have the opportunity to add to such foundations, through Coke Studio is inspiring and motivating.”
This summer, join us and experience this unique and unparalleled musical extravaganza on television channels, radio stations and online. More details on Coke Studio episodes, airing dates, times and collaborations will be shared soon. In the meantime, keep yourself logged on to Home | Coke Studio for a sneak peek into the world of Coke Studio.

"I'm obliged and excited that I've been given this honour to come in again as the most popular act of last year. The jam is the best way to connect to others and yourself on an entirely different level. You explore things about yourself and each other that you can't do on a coffee table." - Ali Zafar
"For me Coke Studio provides an inspiring platform to experiment, discover and perform my own music. I feel that it is one of the few platforms in Pakistan that treats music outside power/class structure, in its endeavor to create a ‘fresh’ musical experience. It is liberating/satisfying/revealing/soothing/cathartic/healing/energizing and always enlightening.” - Arieb Azhar
"Coke studio is a breath of fresh air in an all too stale music industry. Everyday is a thrill to be working with these guys and my old buddy Rohail." - Assad Ahmed
"When I received the call from Rohail to be a part of Coke Studio season two, I left all my work as it was and came straight to the studios! There are artists who are hidden, artists who people have totally forgot about, Coke Studio drags those artists out of there homes and brings them in front of the media, arranges for the jams, rehearsals, for months and publicises them in way which hasn't been done before…Instruments like sitar, sarangi, bansari, dhol and duffli, are brought to the forefront by Coke Studio to the pop rock audience of our country which is fantastic." - Babar Khanna
"Coke Studio for me, gives me the chance and the desire to raise the bar of musicianship a couple of hundred notches higher, and to play with like-minded, extraordinary musicians, who are also extraordinary people as well. As a musician, to have the opportunity to meet, learn and create with other musicians is what the journey is about." - Rakae Jamil
“… to bridge barriers, celebrate, diversity, and bring out something greater than the sum of all its parts” is one that is close to my heart, and to have the opportunity to be a part of a project that furthers that mandate is excellent. As a musician, to have the opportunity to meet, learn and create with other musicians is what the journey is about." - Gurpreet Chana
"This time round it seems as if I have a big brotherly sort of role and I don’t know why that is so but I am enjoying it thoroughly. Last year it wasn’t like this! Everybody’s paying attention now or maybe, I don’t know, looking up to me in some way I mean I don’t know what it is, but its great and that’s the bottom line. I'm very proud and honoured to be working with all the team members of coke studio. They are all an amazing bunch and are nothing short of family for me" - Rohail Hyatt
