Bring Back Fawwad Alam!

Fawwad Alam deserves a comeback. Select him for test matches. Selectors should give a serious consideration to his domestic performance. The guy was third leading scorer in QeA trophy last year, scoring with highest over all average. This year also he has a stellar start to his domestic season at President's Trophy (Departmental comp). Playing for NBP, Fawwad already have 2 centuries and 2 half centuries from 7 innings, scoring 437 at an average of 72.83. And this came against competitive teams of PIA and HBL (who always have Pakistan's best bowling talent at disposal). Currently he has the most runs in the competition and most centuries as well.

Now older posters here will say I always try to make a case for Fawwad Alam's selection, but you can't argue against performance and consistency. There is no other batsman in the domestic circuit who can back up his claim with similar numbers.

Cricket Records | President's Trophy, 2012/13 | Records | Most runs | ESPN Cricinfo

the guy has a career fc average closing on 60....its unfair as sh*t that he's out of the side, scored a century on debut...first to do so abroad...was played as an opener when he's a no 4....and he was screwed around with in ODIs too....sent at 6 7 8.....and then they dropped him based on t20 performance when he's not a t20 player.

He was dropped without any reason. There was no performance issue.

But again Butt was against Afridi even before start of the World Cup and Fawwad Alam took the heat for being close to Afridi & Younis Khan.
And up until recently Imran Farhat was a permanent fixture in all three formats. All politics.

Why was he not selected last year is also a mystery. And then PCB also wasted the highest scorer from last year Afaq Raheem. Just like they have done to Hammad Azam in limited overs game.

So whom he should replace? Hardly a place in test squad or in ODI? So whom would we drop to get fawad in?

whoa...waah bhye...bara gussa charha hoa hai tumhain....didn't know you'll feel same way as me. I used to always put a case here for his selection, got into a lot of argumentation as well. But my protest has dampened down a lot because in the end he didn't get selected in the side and Fart-head always gets in.

I think Asad Shafiq got very lucky and of course his hard work is there too, but lucky in the sense that he came in & rise at the right time and when the window of opportunity opened he capitalized it the max. It was down time for Ijaz Butt and Asad Shafiq didn't pick any side between Afridi and non-Afridi allegiance and just excel on his performance. Otherwise he would've been the next Fawwad Alam, and same goes for Azhar Ali too. That's one reason I admire both Asad and Azhar a lot.

But yaar, Fawwad got to be in. Performing in top tier consistently for two three seasons is no joke.

azhar ali, asad shafiq, and fawad alam are the future of our middle order. selectors need to realize this soon before more careers are ruined and future of pakistani cricket is jeopardized

he should be at least part of the test squad...instead of taking that 'meray saath na insaafi hoti hai' faisal iqbal....if someone gets injured or whatever he should be the first guy to come in...he's earned it...

Agree in squad he should be, but unless misbah retires or Younis no chance, because for opener slot we have nasir already and few others in domestic. In middle order we have to keep Umar Akmal out and fawad will have stiff competetion.

Fawad issue started post england tour there was night clubbing and some discipline issues which also went down to domestic matches. There cant be just karachi bias to keep him out.

He is good for test matches only according to his batting performance in domestic cricket not for ODI and T20.

no one is saying its karachi bias bhai...asad shafiq is proof of that...as far as the middle order is concerned....umar akmal is nowhere near becoming a test bat for a bit at least..he's talented but he isn't putting up the numbers....and misbah is pushing forty its not inconceivable that he will retire in the next year or two...even before that there are injuries and what not pak is not a superfit team nor is it inconceivable that azhar or asad will lose form....fawad should be the next guy in line to get a spot...i'd argue in front of umar akmal currently.
