it is difficult not to assume that pakistan's recent u-turn must be partly due to geoff lawson's presence. he must have imparted advice and rectified some problems. the fielding has been excellent. umar gul has been a revelation with his variations and pace. thoughts on geoff lawson's effect on pakistan cricket?

hes been good but its hard to know what his contribution has been.....only players wud know wat a difference he has made......but i think shoaib maliks captaincy is the biggest reason for this turn around

NO. It is the Selection on Merit. Credit goes to Sallu bhai who in the face of all the criticism stick to his gun and showed what beleif on a side that is selected on merit can do.

Lawson joined the team too late to have any meaningful influence. he definitely didn't made Misbah bat the way he is batting or have Sohail Tanver do all these things. Its the selection that send the right replacement for Shoaib Akhtar again.

I think the biggest changed at the moment has come in the dressing room where they are now more than a bunch of cricketers, they are acutally a bunch of friends.

its a change pakistani team wanted and they have it so they are rejuvinated..the coach has certainyl help with the fielding and tactics and good captaincy by malik has been the reason for the u turn..misbah ul haq has been great but he has yet to prove himself in odi and tests..tanvir has been a great find..

The absence of Shoaib Akhtar, Yousuf and Inzi has played a big role. You can't gel like that if you have defensive approach, Politics and ego.

well it does seem like since geoff has been coaching the team there has been a huge difference in perfromance! it could just be coincedence but i believe it is a huge factor in pakistans recent good performance!

I think its not cuz of coach lawson. Its cuz of all the hard trainning pak did before the wc.

games are not won in the fields, they are rather won in the dressing rooms or in the minds, thats where the role of the coach comes in. Considering the inexperience of Shoaib Malik, I guess Lawson's advise and attitude has come in handy.

he (geoff) is lucky to be with pakistan when theyre playing soo well... he wasnt there most of the time and we won matchs before him as well the AuH tour remember? soo its like we cant be soo excited and say geoff is the best nd stuff but yess he must have helped a lot in our bowling..!!

Shoaib malik shud be given most of the credit!! he played like a captain and proved tht pakistan is not an easy team to play against!

Ya, our bowling has improved tremendously. Especially Gul is looking like a new bowler for Pakistan. He was already a good bowler but now he has become even stronger and is regularly bowling around 85-90 mph. This is pretty impressive.. I like his development especially.
It might have to do a lot with Geoff Lawson, I mean Gul wasn't actually a death bowler but now he has learned the art of death bowling with yorkers and has become pretty dangerous now. The only thing he still needs to learn is the slower ball..had he gotten this weapon as well he would have been even more dangerous with slower yorkers. Considering the extras we have become very professional as well. Let's hope we will keep our performance up and perform even better. Inshallah.
