Geoff Lawson eyes return to Pakistan job but want PCB to apologies
Geoff Lawson eyes return to Pakistan job
FORMER Australian fast bowler Geoff Lawson says he is willing to return to the Pakistan coaching job - but only if the Pakistan Cricket Board offer a full apology for sacking him from the role last year.
No official approach has yet been made to Lawson, but the former NSW captain indicated exclusively to The Daily Telegraph that he would only consider the role if he managed to settle his differences with PCB chairman Ejaz Butt.
"I would not consider any offers from Pakistan Cricket while Ejaz Butt was still involved in any capacity with the PCB unless he offered a full and detailed apology", Lawson said.
On 16 July 2007, he was appointed coach of the Pakistan cricket team for two years, becoming the third foreigner (South Africa's Richard Pybus and Bob Woolmer being other two) to take on the role.
But on 20 October 2008, PCB chairman Ijaz Butt stated Lawson's contract would not be renewed once his term finished in April 2009, stating, "we have no utility for Lawson”.
Lawson was subsequently sacked on October 24.
Even after removal, Geoff Lawson was shown to keep loyalties. In the recently concluded Pakistan vs. Australia series, he was reportedly seen wearing a Pakistan T-Shirt.
Lawson doesn't want to recommend any name to the PCB for Intikhab Alam's successor.
"I have no suggestions as to a suitable replacement but Ejaz Ahmed seems like a good person to start with,” he said.
"Mautisham Rasheed should be immediately reinstated as the fielding coach on full time basis to help restore the quality of fielding”.
ummm ... not sure if I want Lawson back.
I haven't been impressed a whole lot by Lawson.
Personality wise, a good guy, but does not have this "Danday maar" approach to straighten things out as unfortunately,,,, we ONLY know know "danday ki zabaan".
Also, I remember he blabbered crap in india before the games started "We have to settle score with indians"... and we will kick the F outta india blah blah blah ........ and in the end, we had our tails caught in the legs.

I doubt he'll be selected, our seniors weren't too much positive of him either.
The best way is to advertise the opening on international level and evaluate the interested applicants... but yes, If Lawson is the only choice we end up with then we gotta bring him to the table and offer him a reasonable salary instead of $30K a month. If Lawson REALLY wants to help Pakistan cricket and this is his "shoqe" then he should accept the job at around $ 8 to 10K a month..
Useless piece of rotten shit, Zakir Khan takes about $8K a month...we can fire him to generate funds for Lawson's salary as Lawson will after all be better than Papa Klump.
Pakistan's biggest problem at the moment is fielding. With so many catches dropped uptill now in test matches and ODIs Julien Fountain will be a very good choice. He is an expert fielding coach and he has worked with pakistan for short periods in the past as well. I am not sure about the PCB but fountain is really looking forward to coach pakistan.
I read about him on another forum. This news article was written for that forum specifically so i will just give you the link to read it yourself if you want to know who fountain is ? http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/sh...ad.php?t=90020
