Greatest cricketers of ALL TIME (odi/test)
Greatest TEST Eleven of all time:
1) Graeme Pollock:
South Africa
Due to SA isolation he didn’t play enough test. Perhaps the finest left-hand batsman the game has ever produced - Donald Bradman certainly thought so, classing only Garry Sobers as his equal among those he saw play. Another deprived of greater exposure by South Africa's isolation, Pollock showed in his 23 Tests what an awesome talent he possessed; his highest score of 274 was for many years the South African Test record. Pollock was an extremely powerful batsman, although his timing was perhaps his most obvious natural asset, and could also bowl effective legspin at times. He scored his maiden first-class century when he was just 16 and then posted his first Test hundred at 19 in Australia. Part of the cricketing Pollock family, brother of Peter and uncle to Shaun, he now sits on the South African selection committee.
Tests 23, avg 64.97, 7 hundred, and 54 first class hundred in 200 games only.
2) Sunil Gavaskar:
Sunil Gavaskar was one of the greatest opening batsmen of all time, and certainly the most successful. His game was built around a near perfect technique and enormous powers of concentration. It is hard to visualise a more beautiful defence: virtually unbreachable, it made his wicket among the hardest to earn. He played with equal felicity off both front and back foot, had an excellent judgement of length and line and was beautifully balanced. He had virtually every stroke in the book but traded flair for the solidity his side needed more. He still holds the record for the highest number of Test hundreds, but statistics alone don't reveal Gavaskar's true value to India. He earned respect for Indian cricket and he taught his team-mates the virtue of professionalism. The self-actualisation of Indian cricket began under him. 34 hundred, as opener avg of 52.
3) Ian Botham:
14 test hundred, and 383 wickets. 5200 Runs in test batting at numbers #6/7.
4) DG Bradman 99.94 test avg, 29 hundred in 60 odd test... say it all.
5) SR Tendulkar - The modern era bradman, test avg 57, 34 hundreds
6) IVA Richards - used to play Imran, Botham, Lilee as a spinners.. 54 test avg.
7) GA Sobers (C) greatest cricket of all times without a doubt.
8) Alan Knott -Greatest keeper of all time.
9) Marshall The Windies great bowlers had to compete with the other great bowlers in the side for their wickets. This fact should put into proper perspective. Malcolm Marshall's career stats, 376 Test wickets at 20.95
10) Hadlee Greatest pure seam bowler world has ever seen just in 60 test 431 wickets.
11) Murali- MAY REACH 800 WICKETS

Imran Khan/Brian Lara

well this is your personal choice .... no body can be totally agreed to ur list ......u missed quite a few famouns names in ur list.....like lille, waqar ambrose, barne, walsh, greg chappel, kallis, ponting and so many in ur test list ( they deserve to be atleast in Honorable mention list) and javed maindad, kallis, ponting and so many in ur oneday list (they deserve to be atleast in Honorable mention list)
and how come u mentioned steve waugh and ian botham in ur onday list....what r their achievements as oneday playerssssssss.....
so my friend its not possible to select all time test or oneday 11.....this world has produced so many gr8 bowlers and batsmen of atmost same calibre which they cant be fit in a list of just 11 playerssssssss...

I registered myself on this site today and believe me, I really enjoyed the stuff on cricket. In my view, Sir Donald Bradman was not a batsman, he was a batting machine.
While talking about great or successful batsmen, Bradman should be kept out of the list as he would go off the graff on every score. To illustrate my view point, when Greg Chappell completed 7,000 Test runs, he was asked by the media how he felt overtaking Bradman's tally of 6,996 runs. He gave the most befitting reply when he said:" It would be sacrilege even to think that he had overtaken Bradman's tally", and added that only that batsman can claim of overtaking Bradman's run tally or Test 100's who scored 6996 runs in less than 52 Tests and 80 innings.
By the way, it hurts me whenever I find praises being showered on any batsman who scores a triple hundred in Tests. Every one forgets the name of Pakistan's little master Hanif Mohammed who still holds a unique record even after nearly 50 years. In January 1959, Pakistan was forced to follow on in the first Test at Bridgetown, when they could score only 106 runs in reply to 579 for 9 decl. by the West Indies, Hanif not only helped Pakistan to save the Test, but also scored 337 runs - which till date remains the highest score made by any batsman playing overseas. Brian Lara's 375 and 400, and also Gary Sobers' 365 and Len Hutton's 364 were all made on home grounds.
As I said earlier, Bradman was Bradman - only he could score two triple hundreds while batting in England - 334 & 304.
I am a real cricket buff and would love to befriend any one from Pakistan. I am from India and live in Ludhiana, Punjab.
I wish every one the best of luck.
