Pak cric fan has a spectacular aura aboutPak cric fan has a spectacular aura about
Hashim Amla: what a player...

I really like his style of batting, really consistent in every form of the game. Became the first South African batsman to score a triple century today. I am pretty sure he must have been fasting during his innings.

I read he was fasting...nonetheless great inning and shown great composure and focus. It's an example for any up and coming batsman to follow his way of handling himself, letting the bat do the talking. Indeed a great player.

Cause fasting affects your performance..
It would be incredibly hard to last batting that long while fasting.
That's why it matters.

It's kind of interesting debate now. Guardian and Hashim Amla's Twitter and Facebook accounts reported that he was fasting. Simon Burton and Richard Mansell supported that in their coverage. But Lance Witten (Proteas Med Committee head) and cricinfo reported that he wasn't, and he doesn't fast on match days. On the record, he was fasting while touring Pakistan in 2004 and also while Durban test in 2008. I don't know what's true and what's not, but kind of interesting debate has started on internet and social media.

I wouldn't worry about him being fasting or not.
And the reason is, if my curiosity brings out something that Hashim Amla did NOT wish to disclose out in Public then I may be contributing towards not covering a fellow pious Muslim's short comings. You know "parda poshi" or "Kisi ki izzat rakhna".
It's quite clear in the Islamic teaching that "if you do "parda poshi" of a fellow Muslim, Allah will do "parda poshi" of your short comings on the judgement day.
So I wouldn't talk about him being not fasting even if I knew this first hand. That's between him and his lord. I don't have to blabber.

From one of Amla's recent interview I noticed that... there were no "first of all I would like to thank my Allah", or "Alhamdolillah" or saying "Inshallah" after every two three words in every sentence. I have a feeling that he is perhaps a better muslim than many of those 'Sajda Performing' Pak players yet he strikes an excellent balance between being an exceptional pro and a person who is close to his faith but does not mixes 'em both up in a mere display of show off.
