Intikhab Alam yet to decide on PCA's coaching offer
Karachi, July 10: : Former Pakistan captain and coach Intikhab Alam on Wednesday denied that he has accepted the offer to coach the Punjab Ranji team in India.
"Yes I have got an offer to coach them and I am still considering it. I have not confirmed it," Alam, whose name has been doing the rounds as a possible replacement of current Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson, said.
Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) on Wednesday announced that Alam had sent a communication to Secretary M P Pandove, giving his assent to take up the assignment.
Pandove had said that the PCA has already sent a letter to Alam, who coached the Punjab team for two seasons, asking him to join by September.
But Alam, who played for Pakistan in 47 Test matches, said he was negotiating with the PCA about the offer at the moment.
Alam, who runs a coaching academy in Muridke near Lahore, recently criticised Lawson despite being on the governing body of the cricket board.
