Nobody takes Pakistan seriously: Miandad

ew Delhi: Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad lambasted the Pakistan Cricket Board for reducing Pakistan to a mere pushover in world cricket. Miandad said that due to incompetent and weak management by the board officials have allowed teams like Australia to pick on them. "The Australians can easily skip tours of Pakistan on the pretext of terrorism but are readily available to go to India just days after deadly bombings taking place there. Had the PCB been a strong and competent body, such a thing would never be allowed," Miandad told IANS in an exclusive interview.

Miandad said that Pakistan's stature in world cricket has come crashing down.
"Till the nineties, Pakistan was considered to be a big power in world cricket," the legendary batsmen said. "It was ranked up on the cricket pyramid alongside top cricket-playing nations like Australia, England and India. But now Pakistan is treated as a minor team like Kenya or Zimbabwe," he stated.
Miandad believes that "nobody in the cricket world takes Pakistan seriously" and claimed it is the PCB which is responsible for the plight of Pakistan cricket.
He said a major overhaul was needed in the Pakistan's cricket administration where "competent and sincere people" should be given the charge.
"What we need are competent and sincere people who can help Pakistan regain its rightful place in the world of cricket. Otherwise things will only get from bad to worse," he said.

Very well said by Miandad ... NoBoday wants to Play against Pakistan. Every country seems to find excuses not to arrange a series or to visit Pakistan or to invite Pakistan over. Only because of ICC rules it seems they accomodating Pakistan Cricket team to play few matches.

I say make Miandad chairman of PCB. He somehow needs to be involved into Pakistan Cricket again...and I think he can turn it around for Pak. So far all his views in recent time are spot on.

I wish but I don't think it be Very Good for Pakistan Cricket. Miandad is real terrible Manager i.e. is not godo in Management. The Chairman of PCB need to be excellent Manager before any thing else. We saw what happened when Miandad was made coach twice . He was doing Great as a Coach but had no clue how to manage individuals or players and thats won't work in a Management position.

he is not a very good man-manager but what he is saying is still true...there's been inept management.

As for miandad becoming chairman... i dun think its a wise idea... coz the guy barely knows how to talk in english ... so we cant expect him to communicate with ICC nd other Cricketing bodies... secondly he isnt the type of character you wud want as a chairman... where a chairman is concerned the person shud be a strong character who with zero-tolerance nd must be strict in his rules... someone like imran khan(even though he wont come bak into cricket)... but as far as involving miandad into cricket is concerned... i say make him the coach for 2 years nd watch for the results...

^ zero-tolerance is not the solution. Infact no Great leader never had zero-tolerance policy. the idea in Good management is to have the People willingly do what you want not force them to do what you want. To create a culture were the values you want are cherished not where there is a sword hanging on your head.

As for Imran Khan he led by example and there are tons of other factors not him being just zero tolerance.

im afraid sir thts not the case in pakistan cricket... there hav alwayz been politics played in the team with groups being formed and not to forget the drug controversies... so i dun see y we dont need zero-tolerance in pakistan cricket... coz at the moment we rnt heading nywhere... nd we need a chairman who could set the rules straight... and bring pakistan cricket back to the spot where it belongs...
