KARACHI: After the indication that bilateral cricket series between Pakistan and India are likely to reusme, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Zaka Ashraf is hopeful that the two countries will be able to host a joint Twenty20 league in the future.

“I have a futuristic approach and I see a joint India-Pakistan Twenty20 league. If the two leagues are combined, it would be the biggest league in the world. Imagine what that league would do,” Ashraf was quoted as saying by Mail Today.

The PCB chairman added that he had not discussed the plan with anyone yet but after a positive response from India’s cricket board regarding the bilateral series, Ashraf is hopeful of further collaborations and developments in the future.

Pakistan is set to play a series in India later this year.

There are also plans of inviting Indian players to Pakistan’s own T20 league which is scheduled for March next year after Pakistan’s tour to South Africa, despite BCCI not allowing its players to play in foreign leagues. However, Ashraf is optimistic.

“We will invite foreign players. We will also invite Indian players, though I know that the BCCI doesn’t allow them to play in such leagues abroad but we don’t see any boundaries; there are no boundaries in cricket,” Ashraf said.

He further added that India should let its players play in the Pakistan Premier League while allowing Pakistani players to do the same in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“Pakistanis should be allowed to play in the IPL; it is a good tournament. Both India and Pakistan should release their players for each other. That would encourage and strengthen bilateral ties,” he said.

man is doing a great job so far but this is ridiculous

cricket premier league should be like football where every country has it's own league otherwise indo-pak so called league will suck to the ground

i appreciate the ambition this man is showing, especially in light of the lack of ambition shown by most pakistani leaders, political and otherwise. but this is a pretty silly notion for many reasons. let's get PPL off the ground first, and then work on resuming international cricket in pakistan. if he can complete this during his tenure, and do it successfully, then he'll probably go down as one of the best chairmen we've had in recent times.

chairman sahab step by step kaam karo.. i agreed with adil..pahaley PPL start karo with proper plan.. revive cricket in pakistan, promote league worldwide with professional manner and bring international players in pakistan....enka bass chalay tu sab aik saath start karwa doo lol but i like the way he is keep in touch media aur kuch na kuch naye tareqay la raha hia to revive international cricket in pakistan.

PCB board ka yahi masla hai like before BUTT sahab..i don't know what was his name he done tremendous job to revive domestic cricket and implemented some plan jaisey...butt sahab ney chair sambhali...he ruined the whole cricket in pakistan from internaional to domestic game in pakistan..players got attacked by him so on. ab yeh Zaka sahab aaye hia he is trying to do good towards pakistan cricket...ab jab yeh chalaye jaye gey then kia pata we might get another BUTT sahab whose first priorty was to get $$$ aside lol.
