Rashid Latif - "the talk of forgiving players like Butt, Asif and Aamer is wrong"

Quote:
"If he (Kaneria) was guilty then there should be no remorse or disappointment," said Latif. "Anyone involved and found guilty should be punished and the talk of forgiving players like Butt, Asif and Aamer (is) wrong," said Latif.

"In fact I would suggest that (the) assets of these players should also be checked."

AFP: Ex-Pakistan greats lament Kaneria ban

What you guys think, especially @ Aamer? Too young, or old enough to know right from wrong, or issue is too complicated?

Personally believe Aamer was too young and not sophisticated enough to handle pressure from the captain and senior players in the squad. He probably thought his future was in jeopardy... he still deserves his punishment, he is old enough to know right from wrong...

forgive aamer, the rest are crooked. everyone deserves a second chance, but the other fools have all received 2, 3, 4 chances. this is aamers first mistake, and he's doing all the right things. he's shown remorse, and is doing everything the icc has asked him to do. he deserves a second go. the rest should consider going back to college and getting a 2nd career.

I have to agree with Rashid here. If one is proven guilty, they shouldn't be forgiven. Yes, they all were talented but PCB also has to make sure that this won't happen in future. After all how many lads get the chance to represent Pakistan at international level, these guys abuse the trust put on them. They shouldn't be allowed back, no exceptions.

come on man you've never made a mistake that you wish you could take back? we all do dumb stuff, especially at that age. everyone deserves a second chance. aamer is doing the right things by admitting guilt, showing remorse, and then doing everything icc has asked him to do. as long as he keeps himself fit, i'm sure we'll see him for pakistan again.

yeah now if he comes back and then gets busted again, then absolutely kick him out for good.

yaar, I would be the last person to have said what I said in last post. I was totally backing them 3 all along until they were proven otherwise. Even then I was more in shock than accepting of it.

But recently got a chance to find out views of PCB's COO Subhan Ahmed on this matter. He's a close relative. Had a casual conversation with him and I asked him about pretty much all queries I have regarding Pakistan Cricket. Half of the stuff was unbelievable and rest was exactly what I was fearing.

Pakistan team is not a pack of angels as majority of us assume. This is the bottom line I got from that conversation. Aamer is not what all of us are thinking about him. May be Subhan bhai has a bias and also in Pakistan everyone has this bemari of exaggeration beyond need, but still I believe it was credible what he told. I am coming back in couple of days. I'll tell you rest of the stuff about player power, internal politics and rest exactly how it was told by Subhan Ahmed.

Woh to sahi hai.

But I am concerned about them lying to the nation and still continue lying. I care about rest later and first take steps to clean our own cricket. We can't swept the dirt under the carpet.

From the beginning I had my sympathies with the trio. But suspicions were raised when Rashid Latif gave these remarks about them at that time. Rashid Latif is an honest person and if one ex-cricketer I have utmost respect for it's him. His statement just backed the info what I got from Subhan Ahmed.
