Shoaib Akhtar likely to make comeback in International cricket

Lahore: World’s fastest bowler Shoaib Akhtar, whose colourful career has been a heady mix of on-field brilliance and off-field controversy, is likely to announce his return in International cricket in few days, sources said on Wednesday.
“The Rawalpindi Express, who announced to quit international cricket during World Cup 2011, will call a press conference soon in which he will announce his return in T20 and One Day International cricket,” the sources close to the cricketer told The News Tribe.
Akhtar, who made his international debut in 1997, took 178 wickets in 46 Tests, the last of which was against India at Bangalore in 2007.
He is three wickets short of 250 in 163 one-day internationals and has taken 19 wickets in 15 Twenty20 internationals.

yep fakmal also cost sami at least 20-25 wickets in his career too.....would have significantly changed the trajectory of his career. not that that is any kind of excuse for his frankly pathetic bowling average in test matches.

btw this is what he is actually doing...
LAHORE: Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar is to travel the country, playing cricket in the streets in a bid to spot talented young players and groom them for success.
Akhtar, who retired from international cricket last year, had a career troubled by injuries, a dope scandal and disciplinary problems.
The 36 year old and former captain Moin Khan will now embark on a seven-city tour of Pakistan as part of a programme launched by a soft-drink company.
The stars will each be part of two teams that will play matches in the street in order to spot young talent.
“I want to return to my country what it gave me,” Akhtar said during the launch. “I want to serve the game in Pakistan because we have a lot of talent in the street.”
Akhtar dismissed “speculation” as local media reports that he intends to return to international cricket.
He retired after last year’s World Cup jointly hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. “I am not returning and just focusing on this programme.”
Akhtar, who bowled the fastest recorded ball in the history of cricket in 2003 at 161 kph (100 mph), took 178 wickets in 46 Tests and 247 in 163 one-days.

he has done this which is bigger then any cricket
http://www.bakhtawaramin.com/
what he does with his religion is no one's bussiness, he is not on tax payers money he played 4 pakistan and served his country well. No one is stopping any budding cricketer to seek him, what he wants to do after retirment is his choice. If he was involved u guys would be swearing at him calling defensive mindset, religious fanatic, molvi making team sucks etc etc. Do u know how much charity work he is been doing?
If he has turned to Islam good 4 him its his choice and his taqwa

seriously i hear a lot abt crickters should do this and that, we have Rashid Lateef academy, suppose to be best and what has it produced? Not a single wkt keeper batsman? These academies by ex cricketers are not free, they charge lot of money and there is no evidence any talent coming out of them.
Whether they should or not its debatable and everyone has view, my issue was with ur statment abt him following Islam, that is non-issue, what Inzi or anyone does post retirement is thier bussiness
