For those of who say Pakistan copied the IPL, BPL, or Big bash
For those of who say Pakistan copied the IPL, BPL, or Big bash league. Let me just remind

you that The PCB was one of the first cricketing bodies to develop a professional T20 league in

2004.Faysal Bank Twenty-20 League If you want too start an argument, Make sure you have

facts too support it.

The Twenty-20 Cup is a professional league for Twenty20 cricket competition in Pakistan, initiated in 2004 by the Pakistan Cricket Board

(PCB), and is currently sponsored by Faysal Bank.[1] The league currently consists of 13 teams, however is expected to be replaced next

year with the new Pakistan Premier League ending a nine-year tenure of Pakistan's first domestic cricket competition.

dude the fact is that yes Pakistan may have started it in 2004 but now the most famous is the IPL, like it or not, that's a fact!
thus i say maybe we should go with a different name rather than PPL!!!
so far i can only hope against hope cz everything points to the name PPL!

Either way, Its a good step, i just hope crowds come in when the bandwagon goes across the country!

But if Pakistan wanted to make a league then why didn't they in 2005?2006?2007?

just coz they had the first domestic league doesn't mean they had PPL plans.. it was only because they saw the success of the IPL..

I don't see the need to get so defensive.

Pakistan may have had a T20 league before, but was it in any way, in the same league, or size, of the IPL ?

The IPL combined EPL-esque paychecks, world class players, franchisee system, bollywood, cheerleaders, massive marketing to create something unlike anything in the cricket world so far.

Having said that, I wish PPL the best of luck. I hope we'll get the broadcast here in India.

And let's hope the mullahs don't object to the cheerleaders :P
