It's no secret that all successful teams, regardless of the sport, have a strong core of players that are the first names on the team sheet. Let's see if we can figure out who these players are for pakistan in the different formats. List who you think should be guaranteed starters:

this is quite sad, i dont' think i can call anyone else a guaranteed deserving starter. what do you guys think?

Umar and kamran akmal for limited overs guaranteed. Shafiq and adnan akmal guaranted for test matches.

Just gotta remove dead wood, players like nazir, hafeez, sohail tanvir, yasir arafat.

And afridi gotta go too

you think umar/kamran have done enough to warrant guaranteed starting spots in limited overs?

i agree with shafiq in tests, but not sure about adnan akmal as a guaranteed player. i'm talking about like the players who you'd put down first if you were making the team, like those 3-4 players that you can say for certainty would start if they are fit. not sure adnan and kamran akmal fit that bill. and if they do, then speaks volumes about lack of talent we have in pakistan right now.

Sohail Tanvir in All 3 formats

On current available keeper, adnan is automatic choice for test match keeping hence when u making test team for pak he is automatically in. Similarly adnan is automatica choice for Limites cuz he is the best option we have.

We need to rebuilt ODI team. It was all well and good to have hafeez bowl in slow turning pitches he would be hammered on good pitches as found outside subcontinent and india n pak.

So gotta look fwd, got to pick new seamers like junaid, talha, etc, we need to go back to our strengths.

He is better is another format.....actually the format that got him selected......tape ball tournaments at 'Batees(23) Number Choook' in Rawalpindi. He was known as KUKRI there.

i think ths thread highlights the team's weakness. we have no core. for a while we had a core of wasim/waqar/saqlain/anwar/inzi. then we had a core of inzi/younis/yousuf/afridi who were automatic starters. now we have no core. ajmal is the only player to automatically start in all formats, but besides that we have nobody else.

by the way i've asked this in another thread, but does ajmal have any captaincy experience?
