When India win...
MS Dhoni
ODIs: 65 | Runs: 2394 | Ave: 77 | 100: 4
When England win...
Kevin Pietersen
ODIs: 34 | Runs: 1246 | Ave: 73 | 100: 2
They are two men who never doubted that they would play for their respective countries. They have immense self-belief and most importantly, have the ability to inspire others. They rose from humble backgrounds and difficult beginnings. Both men took charge of their respective teams at a time of crisis. Now, they are out on a mission to be number 1.
Their styles are unique yet fashionable. They relentlessly question the establishment and put together their own set of laws. In exactly four years time, they have changed the fortunes of their teams. They embark up on a new journey – one of being in charge.
The purpose of innovation is to make a positive change, to make someone or something better. Pietersen and Dhoni have had to deal with ‘old school of thoughts’ coupled with generations of myths. Could anyone in the 80s or 90s have imagined that a young boy from Jharkhad would come and transform cricket in India? Or would anyone have given the slightest of chance to a South African-born to lead the doggedness of England?
They have been conferred with captaincy because their respective countries didn’t have any other choices. They were entrusted because they have displayed strength of character. The next five or ten years in world cricket is going to be quite absorbing as KP and MSD add new chapters to their new-born legacy… Cheers.

It’s almost telepathy. Two young players started on their journey at the same time and took up a pledge – one to change the way the sport was being played for centuries. They knew that ‘originality’ could flop but it was good spirits and urge that reaped them fruits.
They went about scoring brisk fifties and hundreds and it was just a matter of time before people stood up and took notice. There were, however, purists who weren’t convinced. However, their tremendously strong personas never got perturbed by criticism.
