I have noticed that each decade or so a cricketer or group of cricketers run the cricketing world. When i say run , i mean that they are the best in the world. For example a bowler who is really feared by batsman or a batsman that every bowler is scared to bowl to. Like there was Dennis lilee and all or most of the batsman were scared to face him. These days there does not seem to be a bowler or a batsman who can do that. Maybe because a batsman may have bad form they are not too much of an impact ( afridi) or a bowler maybe injured for most of the time and so the batsman dont fear him as much anymore ( Akhtar). In my opinion cricket is at a neutral stage and at this moment there is no bowler or batsman who can rule the roost.
Who do you think is the feared cricketer of this era?
We are talking about current cricket and so a bowler like Waqar Younis would not count!

great topic.
However, its realy hard to deduce who's era it is really, because they havent retired yet, and havent left a legacy.
However, if you want to pinpoint one cricketer who has ruled the past decade, it has to be Glenn McGrath.
In the future, it would be Ponting, simply because he has won two world cups...also, he will end up breaking many records because he is quite young, compared to others...he still has a good 5/6 years left...

all in all, you have to say that this is a batsman's era. there are a few bowlers like warne, murali, and mcgrath, but there are many things which are stacked against bowlers.

Well i think that people like Murali, Warne, Mcgrath, Dravid, and Sachin have seen most of their good days. They were more dominant in the last 5 yrs than they wud be in the next five years. In the future I think players like Michael Clarke, Yuvraj Singh, Sarwan, Shoaib Malik, Kevin Pieterson and Muhammad Asif wud be the big stars. I dont think any of these players wud really be feared apart from maybe Kevin Pieterson but they will be the elite players. These guys will have better performances in next few years than Mcgrath/Murali. Brett Lee has a good chance to become the best player in the world if he can stay healthy.

yaar, i think Dravid is amazing, but only in Tests, hes not most of a an ODI batsman cause he jus cant sit there, Ponting is a very good player he can play in Tests and ODI's...... I think its ....Murali, Warne Macgrath and ponting era......
