Why must our Cricket become a Political matter | Senate to recieve PCB Constitution
As I read the newspaper this morning, an interesting headline hit me
"Senate to be briefed on Pakistans Peformance"
Reading on, the senate would be briefed about the teams preperations for the tour to england on June 23. Now what annoys me the most is that what do politicians know about Cricket, what recommendations can they make. Isnt that the duty of the PCB?
Henceforth whenever the team returns from a tour and had a bad performance an inquiry is etup "into the bad performance". What is that all about? Cricket is a game one wins one loses.
What do you all think?

We have been arguing and objecting to this for years and years. Politics has nothing to do with cricket, except for Pakistani Cricket. Pakistani Cricket and politics go hand in hand and has been doing so for as long as i can remember. The situation will remain as it is unless someone senior from the PCB steps up and objects to this. It can be possible that politicians may have more knowledge about cricket than the PCB, but there job is in politics, not in cricket.

well, shahriyar khan is a diplomat...so obviously, there is a huge political connection there...
cricket can be discussed in political circles, liek how it can be discussed among school students, or college kids...discussing alone does no harm...politicians like cricket too, dont they...?
as long as they dont do anything stupid or anything which defies cricketing logic, no need to worry.

I guess because it was always and has not changed. Before there were people in Hockey but I will say that Pakistan Hockey was doing very good at that time. But it is funny to say the least the government involvement in sports and matters discussed in senate. But but then if government doesn't get involved I don't see private parties starting and building sports

Well, the problem comes here. If Gilly says he does not care about John Howard or disagrees with his political matters, nothing is going to happen to his position. If Shoaib Malik says he hates Musharraf, he will probably not live to see the light of next day, leave alone playing for Pakistan. Pakistan needs to get rid of the cricket politics connection.

what do you mean by "he will probably not live to see the light of next day, leave alone playing for Pakistan" Are you suggesting that he would be jailed and tortured or worse be killed like in Saddam's Iraq? if so what prove do you have that leads you to this insane conclusion or are you drawing this based on historical point of view and if so i want that too, as i am not aware this kind of things happening in Pakistan.

^i was going to say exactly that...this craig person makes an ass out of himself everytime he ASSumes. There is no substantial evidence of his conclusion. Infact, Imran Khan has criticized the govt many times, I dont think he has been jailed.

First of all the Paki politicians dont even know anything about politics let alone cricket.
Secondly it goes to prove that Paki politicians have nothing constructive to contribute to PAKISTAN'S Development as they have so much free time to mingle with PCB's affairs.
It truly is a joke.
