Younus Khan Pushed for Rauf Selection
Talking to PP Rauf told that Younus had given him a lot of confidence and told him that he will be his main player for the SL tour. The tall Abdur Rauf who is highly rated by Pakistan legend Waqar Younis, said his experience with the A team who travelled SL in 2005 would help him. With 450 wickets in Pakistan First Class he is a very experienced lad.

I would have selected Wahab Riaz instead of Abdul Rauf. I have seen him bowl before and doesn't seem be the type of guy who can take wickets at will... more typical for a domestic bully. Younis selected him so I hope he can prove me wrong.

He is very accurate, his line and length added with bounce will surely trouble batsmen. Good stuff by our captaan!

It was in the news I think as well .... .. I would like to see what Abdur Rauf does - he's about 30 I believe, and with such experience in domestic cricket, we can realise that he does not have action/run-up flaws like S.Khan and Talha do - I personally find his bowling more refined that those guys - that's probably where the A team experience has helped him Younus had pressed for his selection in the wake of lack of form of pacers Sohail Tanvir and Yasir Arafat
Also another thing : On BKBH tonight they managed to get Aaquib Javed online, and when asked about Tanvir, he mentioned that he's a front-line rhythm bowler, he does not work with a base; he goes naturally more for swing and rhythm. Like all front-line pacers (Akhtar, Gul, etc.) he also had to go through back problems though his was not severe as he's not got extra pace. He has been asked to join the Academy in Lahore for the time since he's not in the Test squad (like Akmal was to regain his form) from the 1st of July. The coaches there would work with him so he can regain his form and confidence again. When specifically asked about fame getting to his head, attitude problems, late nights etc. Aaquib rubbished everything and said that someone's bad patch should not be further aggravated by baseless allegations. He also mentioned that when he (Aaquib) saw Aamer and Gul responding positively to the pressure and performing, he felt bad at the same time that Tanvir was not doing that.....
Just thought you'd like to know

This lad can be very handy for Pakistan in the upcoming 4/5 years if given a proper constant run.
