Official Thread : Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore , 2nd Test

4 October 2007

KARACHI - Experienced Pakistan duo Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Yousuf are set to return to the side for the second test against South Africa from Oct. 8 in Lahore.
Sources close to the national selection committee told Reuters on Thursday that both Inzamam and Yousuf had made themselves available for the Lahore test.
“Yousuf is already training with the team while Inzamam will join them by tomorrow,” said the source.
Pakistan are facing defeat in the first test against South Africa at the National stadium.
Inzamam, 37, who has appeared in 119 tests, resigned from the captaincy and retired from one-day internationals after Pakistan were knocked out of the World Cup in the Caribbean.
Yousuf pulled out of the first test due to a lack of match fitness on Monday.
“With the Indian tour also coming up from next month and with Australia due next year, the feeling is the presence of these two is required in an inexperienced middle order,” the source said.
“Inzamam will be meeting with key board officials and the selectors in Karachi to decide if will extend his career or retire after the Lahore test.”
Inzamam is expected to hold a news conference on Friday.

lpossimsety is on a distinguished road
the first test very much exposed the vulnerability of the batting line-up....in a test match, experience counts and will be provided by the inclusion of the two big guns, Yousuf and Inzi....even now, its hard to find a replacement for Inzi...in a one-day match, it can be a one man show..but that is not the case in a test match...

ausafridi is infamous around these parts
It will be a strong side. Hopefully Younis Khan can save Pakistan in this test because that will scare South Africa big time to lose or draw this and then have Yousuf and Inzi back in the side for 2nd test.

Sohail Tanveer should be used in One day only right now cause it is flat track and it won't do anything good for fast medium bowlers in test... However, i would suggest to use Abdul Rehman due to his performance right now and so far i am concerned about Faisal that he must be replaced by Yasir Hameed or Bazid Khan or try new youngster just in case inspite of having batmen like Inzy, Yousuf and Younis who are playing in 2ND Test and hoping to see another youngster just in case

@ against India . Pakistan must use Tanveer in test matches cause India always struggle against fast bowlers ... they only cope with spinners in test and one day
