Pakistan vs England - Lahore - Test 3 - Day 1
gonna be a good one.....squad is announced...muhammad asif is the only new man in....
so i think asim kamal will replace afridi and i also think they r gonna let sami play next match, but personally i want this new guy to get a chance, sami hasnt shown any kind of line and length....he has been poor, while asif have been in good touch recently.....he shud get a chance i think

overall Sami is a good bowler but he is not getting wickets and he is unable to form a destructive first or second line attack. Due to lack of wickets in his bag, this spot is pretty much open for anyone to grab. Youngsters will keep giving good performances and it will put more and more pressure on sami. Eventually he will be replaced by some more promising guy. Asif and Umar gul are around the corner. If Sami's wicket drought continues then eventually team management will bring those youngsters foward.

It looks to me the PCB is looking to play Shoaib, Rana and Asif for the 3rd match. Sami is just unable to maintain his consistency, and his overall lack of wickets could contribute to his being dropped from the next match. As we saw today, Rana and Shoaib make up a very dangerous combination, and I think it would be good to add Asif in the mix after his very encouraging performances.

I think Sami will be dropped but not for lack of wickets but more because he was not troubling the batsman enough. He is not bowling like he did in India.
Never seen Mohammad Asif play

Pakistan call up Asif for Lahore
November 24, 2005
Pakistan have recalled Mohammad Asif, the 23-year-old fast bowler, for the final Test against England at Lahore next week. Asif played his only other Test against Australia at Sydney in January, where he went wicketless, but was impressive against England when he played for Pakistan A and took 10 wickets in the match.
Asif is the only new player in the Pakistan squad and replaces Shabbir Ahmed who is travelling to Australia for further remedial work on his action. When Asif made his debut he impressed the Pakistan management with his gutsy attitude and approach despite an onslaught by the Australian batsmen.
Shahid Afridi, who is banned for one Test after scuffing up the wicket at Faisalabad, also drops out but has not been replaced. Abdul Razzaq was not considered as he has yet to fully recover from his elbow injury, although he is hopeful of being available for the one-day series.
Wasim Bari, the chief selector, said: "We don't want to disturb the balance of the team which is very good. The best thing about this team is their fighting spirit even when the chips are down."
Pakistan squad Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt), Salman Butt, Shoaib Malik, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, Asim Kamal, Kamran Akmal (wk), Mohammad Sami, Danish Kaneria, Arshad Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed, Shoaib Akhtar, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Hasan Raza, Mohammad Asif.

problem is that Sami is not threatening anymore. His bowling does'nt bring any pressure on the batsman but still i am not sure whether PCB will drop him. I think PCB is trying to be more consistant with team selection these days , so he might get one more opportunity. At the same time i guess Asif should'nt be discouraged, he performed so well against England and deserves a chance.

Mohammad Asif the ANSWER?
Pakistan has included Mohammad Asif in the squad as Shabbir is shipped to Australia to work on his action yet again. I think he should be given a chance looking at his form again england in the practice match. Also for some reason Sami has been really moderate at best. I don't know if he's gonna b the answer, we'll just have to wait and c. I'm still surprised about PCB not adding arafat or gul in the squad.

Mohammad asif was ordinary just like others we have tried, Iftikhar rao i am not sure what happened to that guy after so much said about him playin in india and other venues. He was mediocre in the trip of australia, line and length bowler as far as i can remember and we had a lefty as well who went to australia who made loads of statement but didn't deliver crap. remember one line, if pathan can be successful in australia why can't i ?
No he can't bat, not an all rounder.
