There is a phenomenon known as "Gianluigi Buffon".
Game, Set, Match, Championship!

this is true but spain has a serious problem up front. villa is injured, torres is woefully out of form. they will turn to soldado of valencia who last played for spain 5 years ago, llorente who is good but never been a regular, or play with no striker like barca does and do something like pedro--silva--mata up front. either way, this is spain's biggest issue, esp knowing most teams will park the bus against them, and it's hard to crack that without some precise finishers

Crazy to think Soldado played for Spain that long ago..
Llorente had bags of potential but never been spectacular....
Hoping Germany wins it as always liked them from the giants..
Sad again no Turks .
Hope the Croats/Swedes/Irish/Danes do well....

thats true but the combo of villa, torres, pedro, and llorente have won the euros and the world cup so it makes sense why soldado's had to wait.
i think germany and italy will be the teams to watch, but there are always surprises in the euros. for example france is a big unknown commodity they will be desperate to have a good showing after their terrible world cup. yeah i am a big fan of turkey as well it sucks they are not there this time

Final should be: Spain Vs Germany.
I feel germany will win it in the end! They have some exciting talent who are lethal!

carles puyol out of the spanish squad for euro 2012
will be very tough for spain this year with puyol out, pique having an indifferent season, and ramos being very hot or cold. i think a lot will depend on how well alonso and busquets play in front of the defensive line. also, villa hasn't played a game since december, and torres has become the worlds biggest joke.
i think this is spain's best lineup for the tournament:
----------------------casillas--------------------------
ramos --------- pique-------albiol---------------alba----
-------------------busquets/alonso---------------------
------------xavi -------------iniesta-------------------
silva---------------llorente-------------------mata-----

yup i agree. but they are in a tough group though. portugal, germany, holland, denmark. won't be easy for them!
also, i think winning the euros is harder than winning the world cup, what do you guys think?

Interesting proposition in regards to winning the euros being harder than winning the World Cup..
I can see why you'd say that as there are no easy teams at all..i.e no Saudi Arabias, no Asian minnows, no teams from the Caribbean or Australasia..
So fewer whipping boys, but at the same time, there aren't any of the South American giants in Brazil and Argentina, and there's always good teams from Africa in the World Cup, likewise with the likes of Mexico and U.S and or Australia, and or Korea/Japan..
So I'm just not entirely sure and am undecided, but interesting thought though.....

i think that yes, argentina and brazil are a loss in the euros. but think of all the european teams that fail to qualify for the world cup due to restrictions. all those teams are there in the euros and as such the loss of a brazil or argentina is not felt as much. looking at these groups for the tournament, there are no easy groups and very few easy teams. honestly the easiest group is group A, and even they have a former european champion in there. thats why i think winning euros is harder than winning the world cup. regardless, should be an absolutely amazing tournament. i just wish it was starting a little sooner, it will be hard to go through a month with no football!

ahmad speaking of italia, nesta has announced that he'll be leaving milan this year! milan is going to have real problems in the coming years, they have already failed to replace pirlo and will now struggle that nesta is moving on. their mean squad age needs to be reduced dramatically if they want any hope of competing with inter, juve, and others in the long term.
looks like he'll be heading to the mls though, so will be great to see a world class defender playing in the US! hopefully he signs with the philadelphia union, we are having a terrible year and need all the help we can get!

If Thiago Silvo goes to Barca...then Milan are well and truly screwed.
