Would We thank the PPP government?
I am just wondering this, So don''t bash me.....
Imagine 4-8 years from Now, things are better(through some magic of Democracy, if there is any). People will remember this government and say well no matter what they stuck it out for the sake of Democracy and gave us a better future! Will that happen?

well, they blame Musharraf for everything done by this govt., for which he's totally not responsible for. I won't be surprised if someone play this card in future.
After all PPP is very good at playing crying game begging for sympathy and credit.

What will history make of their stay!

Just for the sake of argument, yeah, there are things which have gone in this PPP Govt. favor which never had happened before in their tenure. Firstly, this PPP govt. under Zardari is completing it's tenure which is nonetheless good for Democracy. It stood against all hurdles posed by Govt., army and judiciary and will go on to complete the term. Good governance or bad governance that's a different debate but the completion will go as a positive sign for democracy. Democracy has to go through trying times to stand on it's own, and to change the mindset of people to a democratic one. These may be those tough years, and yeah an argument can be made that they stood firm and battle through those tough times when nobody was giving Democracy a chance. To this I do give credit to "Zardari Politics"-

i'm not sure that the fact that this government was allowed to complete its term is a good thing or bad thing. with a government this bad, this corrupt, and this incompetent, surely there should be some checks and balances in place that if such a bad government shows up, they are not allowed to complete their tenure. i guess this responsiblity falls to the president to dissolve parliament, but when you have the deck stacked in your favor like zardari has, this will never occur. oh well i guess time will tell whether this was a good or bad step for democracy.

That's the perils of Democracy adil. They didn't have checks and balances in place, now if a competent and responsible Govt. comes it will put checks and balances and that's how process improves and democracy propels. I knew this was bound to happen when Zardari came in power in 2007. After all Democracy itself has no magic stick to solve inherent systemic problems itself. Democracy always goes through some testing times if you read history of nations which have successful democracy in place today, including Europe and US. Let's hope that a better Govt. than this comes in power, but chances are bleak atm.

^That's the thing what happen when people just don't change they keep voting for the same corrupt and incompetent government over and over again? For God know what reason. What happens if democracy fails? Either because of People or the People in Power?
But if the current government if a stepping stone to something better, then should we criticize it?

Because in the end it were the people who brought them, either we choose to accept it or not.
