It is definitely based on the design of the F6 but their requirements are completely different. The F6 was an Air Defence Fighter while the A5 is designed for Close Air Support. But i fail to understand what your point is?

Even though we had limited numbers of the F16's, it was the only fighter that was capable of carrying out a long range strike mission inside India. Unfortunately the Mirage's hadn't gone through the ROSE Upgrade and lacked the endurance that was needed to carry out those strikes, this is why Pakistan had no choice but to use the F16's for those strikes.
PAF can penetrate the Indian airspace but only for limited strike missions, we lack the strength that is needed to achieve complete air dominance in the Indian skies. This is why Pakistan has invested heavily in their Missile Technology because they ensure strikes inside India of our choosing.
