awww but it has its benefits, personally I am against it because it is not in lines with Islamic teaching and after all the reason for Pak existence
But since we live in a world where atleast in Pak it is now necessary and Indians and others have benefitted from it so why not

Because short term benefits aren't necessarily a good thing to pursue for the cost of long term havoc..
It just creates further divides between people in an already overly divided world.

I agree on ur basic premises, nationalism is bad. That said i don't think using the division is a solid reason, if there is no nationalistic division, there will be division on caste, tribes, languages, race, geography, religion to name few.
Plz don't take me wrong when I use India as an example, but am using it to make a clear point for pakistanis, India benefited a lot due to strict nationalism which was forced heck shove down, there is more uniting india despite having so many different cultures and religions solely because of strong nationalism.

There maybe stuff uniting India as a whole despite its different cultures, lekin unfortunately it makes them united AGAINST other countries as well, which is not something I'm a fan of. I've noticed it clearly among those that are very nationalistic, be it Indian or Pakistani, their liking of the other country or its people is almost always is reduced or affected.
So yes, while short term it gives the 'us vs them' attitude which may cause unity, over the long term it only adds fuel to more global conflict and differences. And yes while you are right that there are many things that exist that may already divide people, I'm saying this just doesn't help and gives yet another reason.
I notice quite often how mostly people of cultures who are not as patriotic, concerned about nationalism, divisions based on race and culture, and tribes and religions generally do seem to be much more peaceful and less bothered by differences..And I think that really helps.
I personally despise it when someone says, stop calling yourself Punjabi, Tamil, North Indian, Bengali, Marathis..call yourself Indian!
Uhh, I've got a better one. Why not just call yourself a freaking human being. That trumps everything. I'd much rather see unity and find common ground with the rest of the world, rather than people living within a national border.
I've got a whole rant about why I think its silly to be 'proud' of the country one is from, unless they've played a significant role in the formation of the country, but I think we can leave it for another day cause I've ranted enough.

Nah nah its ok like ur rant. Buy my premise is different. Ur looking at nationalism from humanity pov, which is grand but unrealistic. Am not pushing for nationalism which like patriotism as samuel L jackson, i believe said, "patriotism is last refuge of scroundel". Here you and me agree.
The premise I am taking is unless we become one nation in the world, we have to live with geographic boundries and country, nation, states. Taking pakistan e.g, main issue has always been nationalism, we have not become cohesive as a nation. Hence nationalism is to be championed, heck forced to make it a working country.
