Myanmar Muslims? Over 20,000 dead?
There has been a alot of Internet chatter, about a Genocide going on in Burma against Muslims. But uptill now No major news corporation or otherwise has even reported it?
Today I heard that Ansar Burni is going to Burma to investigate, but still there is nothing in the media anywhere. Just go to Google and search "Myanmar" "Muslim Murdered" only small news outlet and nothing?
My Question is what the hell is really going on there? and if something is happening Why in the name GOD no-one is reporting it! Al-jazzera, CNN, BBC nothing. Not even Pakistani channels!

Thanks for the update guys. I was wondering about that, trying to find authentic info. Even if legit, there seems to be a provocation campaign going on social media and internet trying to get muslims to do something stupid.
I hope things get better in Myanmar.

But I still think there is a lack of motivation and there is not enough coverage for the topic.

There is a long history of abuse toward Burmese muslim there was a whole article done in guardian i think will try to get you. When these guys ran to escape toward Bangladesh, BD shut down border and pushed them back in burma. Abt 10 - 15 yrs ago same thing happened and BD had allowed them to come as refugee and then sent them back this time while they were trying to escape BD closed border n pushed them back. BD newspaper daily star did an editorial on it too.

come on mate u know very well afghan refugees were not the only cause of heroin or arms in pakistan, we were doing ok in Bara and Ilaqa-e-ghair (as we use to call FATA), were there some criminals among refugees ofcourse but to blame ordinary afghan refugees who just wanted to be safe is not correct. We must help ppl if we could how can we deny that basic thing? Should have monitored better I agree, should have better system to handle the influx 100% agree but to deny shelter sorry I don't agree, beside most have tribal relations on both side of border even today most Pashtum in FATA don't recognize durand line .
U must remember Darra was world famous for making any weapon and we must accept that while Afghanistan was and remains big producers of drug the labs were all in FATA

they were the biggest cause of drug and arms being trafficked into pakistan...afghan 'refugees' were also housed in iran but they were repatriated once the war was over and they werent in the cities....even in peshawar, they were at jalozai...it was only in khi that they entered the cities, sohrab goth ka hashar dekh lo....not even the police can enter sohrab goth, al azam square ka area....btw this is NOT Anti-pathan before anyone comes up with that nugget, this is what was done to karachi. aik taraf sai refugees doosri taraf sai MQM and zia's plan of damadam mast qalandar succeeded. I maintain that the afghani refugee influx was one of the biggest reasons for drugs and guns being so widely available in karachi. Another tuhfa of the afghan 'jeeehad'. We should have stayed out of that war, just like we should have stayed out of this one...

Having these many refugees ofcoz will bring problems im not denying the role am just saying they were not the sole cause, b4 heroine it was charas widely available with other drugs which no one remember like "rocket". The whole tribal belt has been in active criminal activity. My only contention was sole reason can't be afghan refugees. Most of them were just looking for shelter and have been living peacefully in pakistan.
regarding Afghan jihad well we agree to disagree, I think pak didn't have a choice, even wali khan was of opinion as his party leaders don't forget to remind us he advised zia to shake hands with americans just don't embrace, all the while yelling surkh hai surkh hai asia surkh hai

Social media is lying to you about Burma’s Muslim ‘cleansing’
July 19, 2012
Social networking sites are abuzz with news about Muslims being killed in Burma. You can see the sporadic posting of pictures by different people with captions like ‘Muslims killing in Burma’, ‘Muslims slaughtered by Buddhists in Burma’ and so on.
Thus, I took on the mission to sort the truth out for myself once and for all and researched some pictures that I felt were dubious. Below are a few pictures and their original copies. You can evidently see the gross difference between them and how they are thrown out of context.
This was a picture shared on Facebook.
I have found the original version which reads differently to the the one posted on the social networking site.
This picture was taken in 2010 after an earthquake in China and captures the efforts put in by the Tibetans to help rescue the victims. Now, Islamic political parties and some other elements are sharing this image as Muslim killing and their slaughter in Burma.
Another widely circulated picture captioned “More then 1,000 people killed in Burma” is also fake.
The original, as you can see below, is taken in Thailand in the year 2004. This picture shows protesters that were tear-gassed outside the Tal Bai police station in Bangkok. This is roughly 1,409.9 km away from Burma! What is grossly negligent about these photos is the factual ignorance of the hate these misleading photos can culminate.
Below, please find another image which was posted online, this time with an imprint of Jamaat-e-Islami on the top left . It reads ‘Terrorists of Budhism of Burma kills 500 Muslims’.
As you can guess, this is also a fabricated picture.
In reality, this image belongs to a Human Rights violation incident by the Thai authorities against the Rohingya ethnic minority of Burma. These refugees were detained for a few weeks and then sent off drifting into the sea.
Here is another instance of such fallacy spreading across the social media sites regarding the massacre of Muslims in Burma.
This picture is extremely misleading considering that the original image was about the riots in Thailand that took place in 2003!
Now, take a look at the image below and observe how it is blown out of context.
Now, view the original.
The original picture is not even remotely close to what the picture above states. In fact, a Tibetan protester had set himself on fire in protest prior to the arrival of Chinese president Hu Jintao and that too in Delhi.
I do not deny the killings of Muslims in Burma – not even for a minute.
I think it is horrific and I am sympathetic towards the immense loss being suffered by my Muslim brothers and sisters abroad.
What I am against is being lied to.
Imagine the amount of lies we are being fed through these pictures. How can one trust any image online if such drastic manipulation and editing is being done to cater to someone’s political or personal agenda?
Social media and networking sites, if used properly, can be an impressive tool in spreading awareness amongst its users, but it can be an equally dangerous median as well if misused.
These images are false and are only igniting hatred and prejudice in our youth.
We need to become more vigilant and aware of the credibility and authenticity of pictures we browse through. It only takes one wrong image to push us over the edge towards extremism.
Who do you think is more misleading?
