National Peace Award winner Malala Yousufzai injured in firing incident

National Peace Award winner Malala Yousufzai injured in firing incident – The Express Tribune

SWAT: Winner of the National Peace Award, Malala Yousufzai was injured along with two other women when unidentified men opened fire on her car in Swat, Express News reported Tuesday.

Yousufzai was shifted to Saidu Teaching Hospital, where doctors declared that she was out of danger.

As the news made rounds, hundreds of people flocked outside the hospital, willing to donate blood to Yousufzai.

Two bullets hit Yousufzai and she received wounds on her neck.
According to Express News correspondent Shireenzada, unidenfitied men approached the car in which Yousufzai was seated and asked the girls sitting with her to identify Yousufzai.

When the girls, including Yousufzai, showed reluctance in answering, the gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on her car.

The Government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has taken a notice of the incident.

Hailing from Mingora, the 14-year-old Yousufzai struggled for restoring peace in Swat and education for girls in the region for which she was awarded the National Peace Award by former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

When the Taliban had banned education for females in the district, she kept a diary for the British Broadcasting Corporation and wrote about the misdeeds of militants.

Yousufzai also remained a speaker for the Child Assembly in Swat, which works for child rights in the district. Later on, she was awarded the first National Peace Award by the government of Pakistan on December 19, 2011 for rendering courageous services to promote peace during the mayhem.

Honestly man I don't see any hope. I am not losing hope, but I don't see anything to be hopeful about. The people who have a heart wants to stay away from politics and those in politics are just scumbags. Those in awam who are heartless, once used to care too much. But there is nothing except false hopes.

I have never voted in Pakistan, so I don't know. I would prefer a moderate and I do know that Nawaz Sharif isn't one. So can't expect much from him. He's a proven corrupt as well. Pretty much 'pick your poison' situation atm.

Thats where I disagree with u jigz, 1st we cant lose hope mayoosi kufr hai, so max we will fail atleast we fail with satisfaction of trying to do right thing. Look at immediate response, there were lines of ppl outside hospital to donate blood, they were mostly ordinary, some may belong to PPP, some ANP, some JI, JUI or none they all united for her. So there is hope.

if you vote for nawaz sharrif, then you have no right to criticize the path the nation would take for the next 5 years. this has nothing to do with imran khan, obviously he condemns terrorism he is a friggin moderate with all his policies and in his personal life so why the hell would he be pro-ttp? i do agree with you that imran should be more vocal but honestly read between the lines it's not that hard to see what he stands for. and i repeat, anyone that votes for nawaz sharrif or zardari's parties will automatically forfeit the right to complain about the state of the nation for the next 5 years. not like anyone will have the decency to respect that, we pakistanis are great at two things, 1) making bad decisions 2) crying about them actually make it 3) believing there is a conspiracy that made us made the bad decision

only shining light among all this, at least people are recognizing our heroes. no matter how pathetic the enemy might be, we must stay united in our fight against this cancerous entity. destroy them all, one by one. and be merciless, just like they are merciless to our innocent men women and children. these insects only understand one language, and it is the language of the sword. no negotiations, only annihilation. until each and every last one of them is gone.

If Malala survives, we will target her again: Taliban

SWAT: The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) which attacked National Award Peace winner Malala Yousafzai on Tuesday have said that they will target her again if she survives because she was a “secular-minded lady”.

A TTP spokesperson told The Express Tribune that this was a warning for all youngsters who were involved in similar activites and added that they will be targeted if they do not stop.

Malala was injured along with two other women when Taliban gunmen opened fire on a bus in Swat.

If Malala survives, we will target her again: Taliban – The Express Tribune

Yousufzai, who studies at Khushal Public School, was on her way home when the vehicle came under attack on Haji Baba Road. One of the other injured has been identified as Shazia and sources say the third was a teacher.

Taliban spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan said his group was behind the shooting.

“She was pro-West, she was speaking against Taliban and she was calling President Obama her idol,” Ehsan said by telephone from an undisclosed location.

“She was young but she was promoting Western culture in Pashtun areas,” he said, referring the main ethnic group in northwest Pakistan and southern and eastern Afghanistan.

DPO Swat Rasool Shah said that a search operation has been initiated in the area and a number of suspects have been arrested.

Malala was shifted to Saidu Sharif Medical Complex in Mingora immediately after the incident and later she was moved to Peshawar in an Army helicopter.

Doctors at the Saidu Sharif Medical Complex said that Malala was out of danger after the bullet penetrated her skull but missed her brain.

“A bullet struck her head, but the brain is safe,” said Dr Taj Mohammed.

“She is out of danger,” he added.

Dr Laal Noor, from the same hospital, confirmed that the bullet broke her skull but missed her brain.

“The bullet struck her skull and came out on the other side and hit her shoulder,” he told AFP.

After getting done with Malala’s check-up, the doctors said that she might be sent abroad for treatment.

As the news made rounds, hundreds of people flocked outside the hospital, willing to donate blood to Malala.

Two bullets hit Malala — one in the head and another between the neck and chest.

Malala’s friend, Shazia, while narrating the incident to Express News said, ”When we were coming back from school, unidenfitied men approached our bus and asked us to identify Malala, when we told him, he opened fire.”

The Government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has taken a notice of the incident.

Hailing from Mingora, the 14-year-old Malala struggled for restoring peace in Swat and education for girls in the region for which she was awarded the National Peace Award by former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
